Sometimes you know somebody. And that somebody knows someone. And that someone works for Pixar, The Home of All That is Good in Computer-animated Storytelling in the United States. And that someone offers your somebody a tour of Pixar’s headquarters in Emeryville. And your somebody says someone invited them to visit Pixar and would you and someone else like to visit as well?
And you say, “What’s with all these pronouns?” and, “Yes, I and someone else would be happy to visit someone who works at Pixar.”
So I, and my someone else art director, la bel artiste, visited Pixar this week. We went with our old boss, somebody I call Short-timer, to visit his friend Renderman, who is someone that works at Pixar.
Anyway, Renderman gave us a tour and had lunch with us in the main building at Pixar. You can see the pix of the large atrium area on the gallery page.
Suffice it to say, going to visit Pixar was very very very cool. I’ve been a fan of Pixar’s work from their first animated shorts to their feature films: from Luxo Jr. and Knick Knack to Toy Story and Cars. I’ve been a fan of Pixar’s emphasis on telling original stories (versus cranking out profit-driven sequels) and their connection to Studio Ghibli as well.
All-in-all a very good day. (Oh yeah, Happy Valentine’s!)
